Sketches, Doodles, and Drawings

Medium of Choice

My work starts with pen and ink—fast, tactile, and unapologetically mark-driven. I lean on ink brushes for bold shapes, tapering strokes, and that loose “caught-in-the-moment” energy, then tighten details with Micron liners where I want precision. When color comes in, I reach for Copic alcohol markers for smooth blends and soft gradients that sit cleanly against the linework. I’ll often finish with a few hits of white gel pen to pop highlights and add a spark of contrast. Stylistically, I keep things sketchy and free—letting construction lines breathe, embracing texture, and balancing rough, expressive rendering with intentional ink weight and shadow.

Drawing Session

Discovering the artist Kim Jung Gi was a refreshing inspiration to drawing that taught me a lot about approach of a drawing, high level detail, patience, and reflected similar styles to my own. Hearing of his passing was hard and felt like I lost a hero and mentor. Here is a free hand drawing in honour of our late iconic artist KJG.
